Buzz Rickson’s US Navy Pea Coat ‘Long Model’ – Dark Navy

The U.S. Navy Pea Coat stands as one of the most iconic outerwear designs ever issued, symbolizing strength, simplicity, and function. Buzz Rickson’s Long Model revives the rarer knee-length version from the 1910s — the overcoat worn by naval officers for extra warmth and protection on deck. Compared to the shorter BR11554, this version extends roughly a hand’s width longer, offering noticeably greater coverage and wind protection.

Like the original issue, it is constructed from dense 36oz Melton wool, featuring a wool-flannel lining, corduroy-lined handwarmer pockets, and additional flap pockets for storage. Authentic 13-Star and Anchor Mil-Spec buttons, a reinforced back vent, and the Naval Clothing Factory label underline its precision-built authenticity. The wide collar can be flipped and secured with a concealed throat latch, shielding the face from sea spray and winter winds.

A faithful reproduction of early 20th-century naval outerwear — heavier, longer, and warmer than the standard issue — this coat remains as functional today as it was over a century ago.
