The Suka Jacket Magazine is a eagerly anticipated reissue in the Lightning Archives series that visually explores the fascination of Sukajan.
The initial Sukajans, better known as Souvenir Jackets outside of Japan, were crafted in Japan after the war as souvenirs for American soldiers stationed in Yokosuka. The basic design was based on American baseball jackets, individually adorned with oriental embroideries of eagles, tigers, dragons, etc. Japanese youth were captivated and dubbed these colorful jackets "Yokosuka Jacket," giving rise to the term Sukajan.
