Studio D’Artisan 8172 ‘Amami Dorozome’ Mud Dyed T-Shirt - Dark Brown / Hand Dyed

A centuries-old tradition meets contemporary design. This Studio D’Artisan T-shirt is tie-dyed using the ancient Amami Dorozome technique, a process unique to Japan’s Amami-Oshima island. Natural tannins from local hawthorn trees are infused into the fabric, followed by repeated immersion in iron-rich mud (mud-dyed) - creating deep, earthy tones and a soft, resilient texture. Each shirt is individually hand-dyed by skilled artisans, making every piece unique in color and pattern. The combination of US-grown cotton jersey and time-intensive natural dyeing results in a masterpiece, you can feel the hard work in every thread!
